Those lectures...
During the three years I've been in this after school I have learned a lot. I learned to solve conflicts without violence. I also learned to communicate with those who are different from me. But most importantly I found an adult down here who I can trust with anything. She has also given me her advice and her point of view of things in the most real way. Her way of being blunt would make me upset but now I understand why I needed those lectures.
I enjoyed being in this after school. I think being in this program has somewhat helped me mature as a senior. I'm going to make sure I come back to be in the teen program in September.

Obviously, I've learned things...
I learned a lot of things this year in the "Get and Give Program." I've been in this program for four years; obviously, I am going to learn something. One thing I learned is to be a leader and not a follower. So, during the years I was influenced in a good way. I also learned that without your parents' guidance, it will be hard to be successful in life.
I applied the things I learned and assets I gained to my life. Life has been easier and more rewarding. Being in the after school keeps me from being in trouble. So I appreciate what the after school has done for me.

Fun times...
This year I have several things. I have learned how to solve certain conflicts, how to work with people I don't like, how to be creative and certain activities. There are more things that I have learned but these are what I remember. During the years I have been here it was fun at times and there were times when it was boring.
The times that I enjoy in the after school are when we do activities and when I went to Washington. Now that I am leaving after school I will remember the people I met and all the fun times I had.

Brave and careful
This year I have faced a lot of challenges. Every year I grew different and confident. I have been in the after school for three years. And those three years have been fun. And now my journey has ended. I have learned a lot over these three years and it has changed me.
Ms. Balkus has taught me how to be brave and how to be careful to who I talk to and the way to talk to them. I have been very brave and learned to be confident with myself.

Cultures and courtesy
This year I learned in my after school program about different cultures. I am Afro American and my classmates are of all different Latin places. We all get along very well. This year I learned about good students, bad students, polite students, impolite students, and the cultures of my many peers. I'm very happy we have the Get and Give Program.
